Those who have visited Chris Lindell, president and CEO of Guaranty Bank & Trust, in his office will know that he's an avid photographer.
Beginning today, the community will get a glimpse of Lindell's photographic talents with the opening of 'Favorites: A photo collection by Christopher Lindell” at the Bever Branch of Guaranty Bank.
'Photography has been a hobby for more than 20 years,” Lindell said. 'I went through thousands of pictures to come up with the photos in the exhibit.”
Many of the photos in his collection - including several in the exhibit - were captured during the years he lived in New Zealand and from his other travels. Lindell also is a conservationist and so many of his photos depict his love of the land.
'I like capturing silhouettes and motion,” he said. 'To me photography is about capturing glimpses of life and sharing them with others.”
All photos in the exhibit are for sale with all the proceeds going to support Four Oaks TotalChild - a comprehensive, long-term approach for helping children and families.
'I believe TotalChild is a breakthrough approach to helping children in need,” said Lindell, who has been connected with the project for about a year. 'Too many children in our community lack the basic necessities to be successful and Four Oaks has an innovative program that is making a difference. I hope my photo exhibit can draw attention to the need and others will join me and Guaranty Bank in supporting TotalChild.”
Lindell was inspired to do this photo fundraising project by his son, a music producer in New York City who worked with VH1 and 'Save the Music” to produce a benefit CD.
Guaranty Bank's Bever branch's proximity to Wellington Heights, a main neighborhood focus for TotalChild, made a fitting location for the display, Lindell said. 'I hope I get people to talk about the project and learn about Four Oaks and TotalChild.”
The 'Favorites” exhibition will be on display through July 31. The public can visit during business hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
Lindell also has put together a book of his favorite photos that is available with a $75 donation to Four Oaks TotalChild project.
