The Cedar Rapids school board approved the hiring of Steve Goodall as Principal of McKinley Middle School.
Goodall joins the district after spending nine years as principal at Anamosa High School. A 24-year educator, he previously served as associate principal at Linn-Mar High School and as a social studies teacher at Linn-Mar as well as in Colorado.
During his tenure as a school administrator, Goodall has worked collaboratively with teachers, other administrators, and staff to create a culture of shared decision making and distributive leadership.
He earned his bachelor's degree in history and education from Cornell College and a master's degree in education from the University of Northern Iowa, with the emphasis on secondary school administration.
“I am excited to join the faculty and staff at McKinley and am looking forward to being a part of their Professional Learning Community,” noted Goodall. “McKinley has a strong reputation for putting students first and I am thrilled to be able to work with the excellent staff and to develop partnerships with the stakeholders within the school community.”
Goodall replaces Kristen Rickey, who left the district to become superintendent at the West Delaware Community School District.
