From live music to theater to holiday festivals, there are plenty of events to draw visitors to Mount Vernon. Here are a few fall happenings; find details and more events at visitmvl.com/events.
MOUNT VERNON RESTAURANT WEEK
Sept. 15 to 24
Meet the culinary artists of Mount Vernon with a passport and map detailing specials at 11 participating restaurants.
MOUNT VERNON FARMERS MARKET
Fall and winter market held 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays, October to May, First Street Community Center, 221 First St., facebook.com/mtvernonfarmersmarket.
Even after summer produce is a memory, stop by the winter market for freshly baked bread and treats, jams and jellies, locally-raised meat, crafts and other goodies.
PORTRAYAL OF MOUNT VERNON
Oct. 7
Watch artists in and around Mount Vernon demonstrate their skills as they paint, photograph and sculpt the town they love. Participants can join the event as an artist or just observe the creativity.
MOUNT VERNON-LISBON COMMUNITY THEATRE

Oct. 19 to 21, 7:30 p.m.
Take in a performance of 'Resistance Radio,' which will recreate the Golden Age of Radio on stage, with several classic broadcasts, including H.G. Wells' 'War of the World.' Tickets are $5.
MOUNT VERNON ART WALK
Nov. 4, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
With 10 art-centric stops, this event is meant to highlight Mount Vernon's 'three blocks to shop' in the historic business district. Galleries and studios, bookended by East End Art on the east side of First Street to First Brick Art Gallery on the west side, will offer refreshments, special exhibits and fun artistic activities.
MAGICAL NIGHT
Nov. 30, 5 to 8 p.m.
Mount Vernon's annual celebration of holiday magic returns with a lighting ceremony, thousands of luminaria, trolley and train rides along First Street, strolling carolers, pictures with Santa, a live Nativity, music and dance performances and a holiday bazaar.
