Mental health programs prove positive for children, Tanager Place report shows

Tanager Place's 2011-12 Stakeholders' Report reveals successful outcomes in all major services, including inpatient program, outpatient Mental Health Clinic, and community based programs. Tanager Place provides innovative programs designed to help at-risk children with behavioral, emotional or psychiatric disorders.
Highlights of the 2011-12 Stakeholders' Report include:
Inpatient Psychiatric Medical Institute for Children, PMIC Program
Provides inpatient, psychiatric treatment for children ages 5 to 17 who are struggling with serious emotional/behavioral psychiatric problems.
- 100 percent of referrers surveyed were satisfied with overall results
- 96 percent of children met discharge criteria
- 90 percent were discharged home or to a family setting
- 97 percent clinically improved in problem solving, risk behavior reduction, functioning skillsets, level of care needed, &/or personal strengths.
- 100 percent of youth in the Intermediate Care Facility for Intellectually Disadvantaged were discharged to a lower level of care
Community Based Behavioral Health Intervention Services (BHIS)
Serves children and families in their homes to help improve skills to handle psychological, behavioral, emotional, cognitive and/or social issues. Of families surveyed two months after service:
- 100 percent reported child was still living with family
- 100 percent reported child was in school or had graduated high school
- 92 percent were satisfied that BHIS met family needs
- 96 percent reported overall satisfaction with services
Mental Health Clinic
Provides outpatient mental health diagnosis, treatment, medication management, and assessment. Of families surveyed:
- 100 percent reported services were of benefit to the child
- 99 percent were satisfied with overall quality of services
- 99 percent were satisfied with flexible scheduling
- 99 percent were satisfied with appointments being on time or notified of delays
