The African American Museum of Iowa (AAMI) is excited to announce two events as part of National Black History Month (February).
“Meet Harriet Tubman” and “Carnival of Greats!” will take place Saturday, Feb. 25, at 11 a.m. the AAMI.
Tubman will teach about her life and her experiences helping slaves escape on the Underground Railroad in this first-person interactive interpretation.
This program is designed for children and families, but all ages are welcome to attend. Walk-ins are welcome, but pre-registration is preferred. Please contact Tenika Johnson at 319-862-2101 ext. 226 or tjohnson@blackiowa.org to register.
“Carnival of Greats!” is from noon to 3 p.m. Participants can throw a ball like Jackie Robinson, navigate the Underground Railroad with Harriet Tubman, and much more. This will be an event with family-centered games and activities where everyone is encouraged to win prizes, get their faces painted and learn something, too.
