This week the irrigation system in Greene Square Park has undergone removal of and installation of a new system. The irrigation replacement will result in a modernized and fully functioning irrigation system that will support healthier turf and promote rapid re-establishment of stressed turf after large events.
This project is result of collaboration between the Cedar Rapids Downtown District and the City of Cedar Rapids' Parks and Recreation Department. According to the City of Cedar Rapids' Parks Superintendent Daniel Gibbins, “the new irrigation system will help maintain thicker, healthier grass for the entire community to enjoy, in one of downtown Cedar Rapids' most frequently used parks.”
Funding for the project was generously provided by the Cedar Rapids Jaycees.
