Food trucks coming to Greene Square

Food trucks will gather at Greene Square in downtown Cedar Rapids this summer, the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance announced Wednesday.

From July 7 to Sept. 29, food trucks from around Eastern Iowa will park next to Greene Square from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Friday.

Food trucks will be limited to Third Avenue SE due to potential construction on Fourth Avenue throughout the summer. The event will be canceled in case of rain.

This is the second weekly food truck gathering planned this summer. Food trucks also will park in front of NewBo City Market from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesdays, beginning July 5. The two events are connected via a partnership between the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance and NewBo City Market.

To participate in the Greene Square event, vendors must have a Cedar Rapids food truck license. Food truck vendors are still sought for both events.
