Cat lovers can see their furry friends on the big screen at two cat video festival events in the Corridor this month.
In Cedar Rapids, Marcus Galaxy 16 Cinema, 5340 Council St. NE, will host CatVideoFest, a compilation reel of cat videos curated from across the internet, at 7 p.m. Monday.
Tickets, available at fandango.com, are $12.50. Proceeds will benefit Cedar Rapids Animal Care & Control.
The reel, created by Will Braden, is screened across the country, with a new compilation on film each year. A previous year's reel was screened at the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library in August 2017.
Another cat video festival will screen at the Iowa City Public Library, 123 S. Linn St., at 1 p.m. March 16, in the Storytime Room. That compilation, created by an Iowa City librarian, will be accompanied by 'cat-tastic” crafts, including cat masks, cat toys and cat origami, as well popcorn. The event is open to the public.
For canine lovers looking for viral videos, the library will host a dog video festival at 1 p.m. March 23, with crafts including dog puppets and dog toys to take home, as well as a visit from a therapy dog.
