Common Ground Iowa members prepare for the Damage Prevention Summit.
This year's Damage Prevention Summit is taking place on August 10-11, 2011 in Ankeny at the IAMU grounds (information and directions are on the CGI website). The activities include live demonstrations, an active and instructional exhibit area, industry expert speakers, food and prizes. CGI expects to draw hundreds to the FREE event.
Common Ground Iowa (CGI) is a collaboration of interested parties working together to reduce buried facility damages in Iowa. Unintentional hits to pipelines and cables can be costly and life threatening; by promoting effective damage prevention practices, the group works to enhance public safety.
“The date of the summit, August 11th, is a reminder for everyone to call 8-1-1 to get underground services located and marked before beginning a digging project” reminds Cynthia Munyon, CGI Chairperson. “Underground utility safety is something that impacts us all.”
Anyone interested in Damage Prevention and Excavation Safety is invited to participate in the FREE events, and to become a CGI member.
