Cedar Rapids, Iowa City hosting union Labor Day events

Several union-sponsored Labor Day events are taking place around Iowa, including events in Cedar Rapids and Iowa City.

The Hawkeye Area Labor Council hosts an event at 11 a.m. Monday at Hawkeye Downs, 4400 Sixth St. SW, Cedar Rapids. The event features food, music and children's entertainment. For more information, contact Rick Moyle at rmoyle@hawkeyelabor.us or (319) 396-8461.

The Iowa City event takes place at noon in Shelter No. 2 at

Other events are planned in Lucas, Clinton, Burlington, Cedar Falls, Des Moines, Dubuque, Fort Dodge, Keokuk, Mason City, the Quad Cities and Sioux City.
