The Cedar Rapids Downtown District and Presenting Sponsor Pepsi Next welcomes patrons to another Downtown Farmers' Market this Saturday August 6, from 7:30AM-Noon. Patrons of the market are encouraged to participate in the market theme, “Bike to Market” day.
The Linn County Trails Association, the Cedar Rapids Bicycle Advisory Committee and the Linn Area Mountain Bike Association will be on site in Greene Square Park, distributing trail maps and information on cycling equipment, apparel, local riding clubs, etiquette and more. Cyclists will be able to secure their bicycles in Greene Square Park while enjoying the rest of the market venue. Beyond Greene Square Park, several bike racks were installed throughout the downtown area in early May with a grant received from Rockwell Collins.
Hoopla will host main stage entertainment including Jason Brown and Chubby. On street entertainment will include Mark Brown, Magician Jackson Green, Junk Funk, John Heim, a Zumba performance and a cooking demonstration hosted by Zins. Presenting sponsor Pepsi Next will be on site providing samples of Pepsi's newest product.
A record 219 market vendors will be placed along 3rd and 4th Avenues, 2nd and 3rd Street SE as well as Greene Square Park in downtown Cedar Rapids. Patrons will have access to free parking in 4th Avenue and GTC parkades and non-hooded meter space on open streets. Handicap accessible parking will be available in the Guaranty Bank parking lot (entrance along 2nd Avenue).
