'Black Faces of War' book-signing at the African American Museum of Iowa

The African American Museum of Iowa is proud to host a book-signing with author Robert V. Morris for his newest non-fiction book “Black Faces of War.” The book-signing will take place Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 3:30 p.m. at the African American Museum of Iowa (AAMI).
Morris' new book, “Black Faces of War”, features over 200 illustrations and amazing personal accounts of African American military contributions from the Revolutionary War to today with a foreword by Lt. Gen. Julius Becton, Jr., USA (Ret.), vice-chairman of the U.S. Department of Defense' Military Leadership Diversity Commission and contributions from Brigadier General Arnold Gordon-Bray and other noted authors.
The AAMI's Nikke Museum Gift Store will have copies of the book available for purchase. Attendees will hear a presentation by Morris and will have a chance to talk with him. Morris is a graduate of the University of Iowa, a former journalism instructor at Iowa State University and past president of the NAACP Iowa-Nebraska Conference. Morris also founded the $10 million, 4.6 acres Fort Des Moines Memorial Park honoring the U.S. Army's first black office class (1917) and the Women's' Army Corps (1942) in 1997 and the WII Iowa Tuskegee Airmen Memorial “Duchess Arlene” replica P-51D at the Iowa Air National Guard 132nd Fighter Wing in 2002. Morris' prominent military family history became an award winning PBS documentary titled “Tradition and Valor” in 1994 with a book of the same name released by Sunflower Press in 1999.
