CEDAR RAPIDS - Whether you're looking for a terrifying hour in a haunted house or to re-watch a favorite cult classic horror flick, there are countless ways to get your scare on this Halloween season.

Haunted Attractions
1. Field of Screams
A night of frights is in store for those who wander through Iowa City's annual haunted corn maze by the Johnson County Jaycees - and yes, there will be clowns.
Where: 2991 Black Diamond Road SW, Iowa City
When: 7:30 to 11 p.m. Oct. 22-23 & 29-30
Cost: $10; visitors get $1 off if they bring a canned food item to donate
2. Haunted House at the Memorial Union
Students and families are invited to be spooked in the University of Iowa's Memorial Union main lounge, which will be overrun with ghosts and zombies.
Where: University of Iowa Memorial Union, 125 N Madison St., Iowa City
When: 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29
Cost: free
3. Scream Acres
Bloomsbury Farms' Scream Acres, with its four haunted attractions and dozens of creatures of the night, can strike fear in anyone who dares to visit.
Where: Bloomsbury Farms, 3260 69th St., Atkins
When: 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Oct. 21-22 & 28-29
Cost: $20 for two attractions or $30 for four attractions. Individuals can also purchase VIP passes to skip lines at $35 for two attractions or $45 for four.
4. Circle of Ash
Located at the Linn County Fairgrounds in Central City, the Circle of Ash Haunted Attraction offers several choices for dare seekers, including 'Journey's End,” where individuals can experience their own funeral in a solo coffin ride.

When: 8 p.m. to midnight Oct. 21-22 & 28-29; 8 to 10 p.m. Oct. 23 & 30.
Cost: $20 for general admission, or $50 to skip lines
5. Garrison's Hunted Mansion
Firefighters from the Garrison Fire Department hope to scare visitors when they visit the creepy warehouse on the city's main street.
Where: West Main Street, Garrison
When: 7 to 11 p.m. Oct. 28-29
Cost: $10
6. 'Dam of the Dead Haunted Trail”
Take a walk on The Woodpecker Nature Trail on the west side of the Coralville Dam that may or may not be infested with zombies and other ghoulish creatures. Hosted by the Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, Coralville Lake, the event features various kids' activities such as campfire ghost stories, live owls and survival skills presentations.

7. 'Something Wicked This Way Comes: Curses and Hexes”
As a part of its Halloween series, the The Granger House Victorian Museum in Marion is hosting an educational - and perhaps frightening - talk from Madam Zelda. Officials say the medium is someone 'who tends to be a bit free with facts” and is to present a talk on curses and hexes throughout history.

Horror Movies
8. 'House of 1,000 Corpses”
The 2003 slasher flick by director Rob Zombie hits the big screen in Iowa City.

9. 'FilmScream”
The first-ever 12-hour horror movie marathon at FilmScene in Iowa City takes place the Friday before All Hallow's Eve.

10. 'Evil Dead” and 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre”
A double feature of the cult classics is hosted by Bijou Film Board, a University of Iowa student film group, featuring free giveaways and games for those who dare to enter.

Family Attractions
11. Trick-or-Treat with Police
Officers from the Iowa City Police Department visit various locations around Iowa City for family-friendly Halloween fun on Wednesday, Oct. 26. Here are the stops:
5 to 5:30 p.m. - Iowa City Shelter House, 429 Southgate Ave.
6 to 6:30 p.m. - Hy-Vee, 1125 N. Dodge St.
7 to 7:30 p.m. - Iowa City Public Library, 123 S. Linn St.
8 to 8:30 p.m. - Fareway Grocery, 2530 Westwinds Drive

12. 'Trick-or-Treat on the Trail”
Families can join the Linn County Trails Association for an event hosted by the Marion Public Library. Individuals of all ages are invited to dress in costumes for trick-or-treating on the Thomas Park Trailhead in Boyson Park and Trail.

When: 3 to 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31

13. Halloween Party at the Cedar Rapids Public Library
Residents of all ages can join the free fun at two locations. Wear your costume and be ready for games, crafts and trick-or-treating.
9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at Ladd Library, 3750 Williams Boulevard SW
10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 29, at the downtown library, 450 Fifth Ave. SE
