Young people should engage in politics, voting

I am writing to bring attention to the lack of voters, especially among ages 18 to 25, and am calling on the youth to encourage registration and voting in our democracy.

As a citizen of the United States, we have the privilege to vote for our officials and for our voices to be heard. We created a government, by the people, for the people. If you don't like what's being done, vote for someone that shares your viewpoints in the next election: A politician who is qualified, well-respected, and will work for a better tomorrow.

We need to encourage citizen participation. Even though many high school and college students tend to shut out politics, we need to encourage them to have an opinion and do some legitimate research. Then, they should go out and have civilized debates rather than constantly attacking a side with name-calling and rubbish.

By working together and listening to each other, we can create a better way to view politics and our government.
