Yardy device inventor doesn’t deserve abuse

I am appalled at the vitriol that has been slung at Kim Brokaw, the Cedar Rapids gentleman whose safety device for the Yardy carts has drawn the City Council's support. Whatever happened to Midwest nice? Since when is ingenuity and free enterprise a crime? Mr. Brokaw saw a need and fixed it.
The city of Cedar Rapids knew years ago about the injuries these hulking carts cause. The Gazette wrote an article on them in April 2003. I can understand people feeling frustrated with the city, but to blame Mr. Brokaw is ridiculous. His invention was supported by the City Council. Our council members are elected, adult individuals. They had every ability to say no but didn't.
If you don't like decisions made by the City Council, then try to be part of the solution and run for council yourself, but don't annihilate one man because he presented an idea to the city.
