Wrong to separate children from parents

When is someone with power and courage going to do something about the atrocities being committed against refugees seeking asylum from dangerous conditions in their home countries? I am disgusted with a government and with Christians who use the Bible to justify taking children away from their parents when the only crime they've committed was to seek a safe place for their families.
I am a Christian and the God I know has a different attitude than what we're seeing. No one can tell me Jesus would be doing this. The Apostle Peter said when God's law of compassion and man's law conflict, we are to obey God rather than man. Consider the psychological problems these children are going to have down the road. They need their parents now more than ever. One day the Lord Jesus Christ is going to judge the nations based on how they have treated the less fortunate.
What does the Statue of Liberty say? Bring me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.
I would say to those who think they're doing God's will by splitting these families that they might as well be making arrangements to send Lady Liberty back to France because her words don't apply here anymore.
