Writer has questions about climate

To the editor:
Once again, it only took a little time for The Gazette to get on the bandwagon and say that the sky is falling. The Gazette editorial on May 20 stated 'Climate change demands attention.”
I am not an expert on this subject, but if I were to debate the editor, I would ask him to provide the credentials for the 188 researchers in the 39 colleges mentioned. I would also say, why are you extrapolating based on a 5-year period; why not 50, 100 or 150? They can't, so they are guessing like anyone else would.
I would further ask for a definition of heat trapping gases. Also, what does intensity of rain events mean and why do you show this for a 50-year period, not 100, 200 or 300 years.
If greenhouse gases will increase, are we not capable, as humans, to adapt to changing environments, using current and future technology, to counter and defend against supposed or real problems.
When a Gazette editor projects for the State of Iowa, should he not also look to Washington and see what is Obama's agenda? Doesn't he sound like another Obama who says 'It's time to act now.”
Let's forget that statement and look to what is behind the president's end game. What is he really trying to accomplish? Don't you wonder? I do.
Could it be a carbon tax?
