Writer focuses on race, ignores facts

Regarding Robert Batey's Oct. 5 letter “Obama inconsistent on race, religion”:
Because The Gazette chose to publish a letter that was clearly offensive, false, racist - am I missing anything? - I'm going to take this opportunity to call this one out.
President Barack Obama commented on the murder of Trayvon Martin, a murder the local police failed to investigate for six weeks until public opinion forced them to. Batey's response is to wonder why Obama didn't similarly comment on or identify with the parents of a collection of sociopathic black teenagers who murdered white people.
The fact that these teenagers were arrested within a few days, charged and convicted as due process requires is apparently of no consequence to Batey. The only thing he sees is color.
