After 12 years as the Kirkwood Community College District 9 Trustee, I am endorsing Leslie Wright. It’s time for me to step aside.
As I look at the ‘elected-office landscape’, be it national, state, or local, I see some serving 20 or 30 years, and over the years becoming a bit less engaged.’ I believe term limits should apply to all elected positions and school boards are no exception. Therefore, I asked Leslie Wright to consider running for election and she immediately agreed to do so.
I have known Leslie Wright for many years and consider her to be an engaged community-server. Her years at United Way give her an excellent perspective on both community needs, as well as what resources are required to address those needs. More recently she has been an adjunct instructor at Mt. Mercy University; she understands what’s required to be an effective teacher at the college level. And third, she’s mom to a current college student; recognizing the concerns and challenges today’s college students face.
So, if you live in Kirkwood Community College Board District 9, please vote Nov. 2 to elect Leslie Wright to the college’s board of directors.
