Would casino competition been so terrible?

Who thinks that a water park will appease the voters who wanted a casino? I, for one, can't see myself parading around in a swimsuit in public.
I was hoping that free enterprise would reign in this decision by the gaming commission. As an empty-nester, I would have enjoyed the opportunity to spend some time in a casino that offers good food (not something that the other casinos in the area offer) and concerts, as well as gambling. Would it have been so terrible to give casinos in the area some competition?
Yes, I have been to other casinos in the area and found that the drive isn't worth it.
