Work daily to combat hatred, bigotry

I applaud Alison Gowan's column ”Stark reminders to never forget,” for, as she reminds us and events in Pittsburgh have reminded us, hatred and bigotry are alive and well in this world. It knows no nationality, no race. It is not a respecter of people.

If we shrug our shoulders and say such rhetoric is 'freedom of speech,” shame on us.

As Holocaust survivor Dr. Jacob Eisenbach said, ' … if we should ever forget (the Holocaust), we would be contributing to its repetition.” We must be their voices for future generations, long after eyewitnesses are gone. Their stories, their remembrances, must not be silenced by the grave. We must honor their memory by standing against hatred. It is our responsibility and our moral obligation as members of the human race.
