With Congress broken, we’re on our own

Being a politician is no longer an admirable job. Most serve their own interests or those with deep pockets. The days of them fighting for your rights and seeking equality and justice for all are over.
Case in point, the Republican Party represents about 37 percent of Americans in Congress, yet their decisions impact every Americans. It's all a reality show based on out of control egos and a lust for power. It's time for people to come together on their own.
We can count on each other. Family, friends, neighbors, strangers, we can disagree on strategies to make this country better but at the end of the day we do what's right for most people because we have a vested interest in leaving a positive mark on this world. Gun control, environmental protections, clean water, racial equality, gender protections, term limits are just a few of the issues we should all come together on. Don't let some politicians stir the pot. They say what they say to ignite emotions. Be critical thinkers. Practice a kind act everyday. Be open minded. Walk in other people's shoes. Send a message that community is stronger than any self serving talking point. We can do so many great things when we make decisions based on compassion for others.
