Will leaders denounce dishonest tactics?

U.S. Sen. Ed Markey, in an April 17 speech, made it clear that he intended to demonize the Republicans by acting as an echo chamber for David Axelrod's pack of gross distortions and lies. This with President Barack Obama's approval, no doubt.
The campaign mantra is that Republicans on every issue facing the country are hardhearted and downright cruel. He went on to say that Republicans plan to “abandon the elderly” and “take food out of the mouths” of hungry children.
Every citizen, even staunch Democrats, should feel deeply insulted by this gusher of hogwash. When do the Democrats, and for that matter, quite a few Republicans, denounce this low-road, dishonest political style?
