Wife can’t be guardian for Honor Flight
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Mar. 21, 2014 2:00 pm
My wife and I have been waiting for Honor Flight and it finally has arrived, only to find out that a wife cannot be a guardian. We found this out shortly after I received my letter that my name was now on the Honor Flight.
I do have health issues, my wife knows what medicine I take, etc. I know they have nurses on the flight to help when needed. I would be assigned a guardian that I would not know and he or she would not know any of my health issues.
Because we did not know about this ruling, I am submitting this letter as many others probably do not know this ruling either. I feel because my wife cannot be my guardian, I won't go either. We both would love to go, but the rules say no. I am very proud of my service in the Navy.
