Why I filed to run against Rep. Miller-Meeks

I recently filed to run for Congress in Iowa’s 1st District — because I’m tired of watching politicians like Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks and the Republican Party lie to the public, distract from real problems, and actively work against the people they claim to represent.
Their latest talking point? That our elections are under attack from noncitizens. Let’s be clear: noncitizens voting in federal elections is already illegal. The SAVE Act doesn’t fix a real problem — it manufactures one. And the goal isn’t election security — it’s voter suppression, plain and simple.
While they’re pushing bills based on conspiracy theories, Iowa is facing a health care crisis. We rank 44th in the nation for physicians per capita. People in our district are driving hours just to see a doctor — if they can afford to at all. But instead of addressing that, Miller-Meeks is more concerned with scoring points by scapegoating immigrants and defending tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy.
I’m running because I believe working people deserve better than culture war distractions and corporate loyalty. We deserve leaders who care more about your hospital closing than about Tucker Carlson’s approval.
If Republicans like Miller-Meeks want to talk about election integrity, let’s start with this: stop rigging the system for the rich and start delivering for the rest of us.
