Why did Miller-Meeks choose Renander?

Second District Republicans will be selecting their candidate to oppose Dave Loebsack in the June primary. While I am not a Republican, I do have a concern about Mariannette Miller-Meeks.
I question Miller-Meeks' ability to represent and provide constituent service to the Iowa City-Coralville community.
Miller-Meeks has chosen Jeff Renander to be on her campaign team. During his time as a law student at the University of Iowa, Renander edited the Campus Review, a conservative opinion journal. Among other stunts, the Review under Renander's leadership displayed a “gerbil quilt” which kept an anti-gay slur alive and mocked the Names Project quilt, and produced an Arabic-English translation “guide” which contained obscenities in Arabic.
Most germane here was Mr. Renander's oft-stated disdain for Iowa City and the U of I in particular, and “liberals” in general. Given my memories of Mr. Renander's “contributions” to political discussion, and his presence in Miller-Meeks' campaign, I question Miller-Meeks' commitment to provide representation and constituent service to the Iowa City-Coralville community. I would appreciate her explanation.
