Why could Dems resist cutting wasteful spending?

Trump Derangement Syndrome is back. In a recent Gazette edition, all nine articles on the Nation/World page referenced opposition or resistance to a Trump policy.
What are the Dems resisting? Trump wants to cut wasteful government spending. One of his targets is the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The majority of USAID money is spent in Asia, Africa and Europe. Examples of USIAD expenditures? $1.5 million to “advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in Serbia’; $2.5 million for electric vehicles in Vietnam; and $6 million to fund tourism in Egypt.
USAID’s annual budget of over $50 billion far exceeds the $30 billion budget provided to the Federal Emergency Management Agency. FEMA is there to help emergency efforts in the United States, such as those impacted by the hurricane devastation in North Carolina and the fires in California. FEMA was there to help Cedar Rapids respond to and recover from the floods in 2008. FEMA is running short of money. Meanwhile USAID gave $70,000 for production of a “DEI musical” in Ireland.
Trump ran for President on the promise to cut wasteful government spending. He promised to shut down the border to stop human trafficking and the smuggling of drugs into the country. He promised to deport violent immigrants here illegally. He is working on doing all of those things, even though many local, state and federal ‘leaders’ oppose his efforts. If they were truly leaders, would they not put their own citizens first by supporting, rather than opposing, these efforts?
