Why can’t everyone have equal rights?

What do the Republicans have against people having equal rights? There are many more pressing issues to solve!
I came from a traditional farm family. My parents taught us to be accepting of others and the way they choose to live. I am straight and have been married over 30 years. I have many gay friends. They have incredible relationships - better than a lot of straight relationships.
Three of these lesbian couples have children who are also incredible. Well-educated, articulate, ambitious - more so than most kids their ages.
I am so tired of hearing the argument that gay marriage undermines straight marriages. How?
I don't understand why this keeps getting dredged up. Are they all homophobic drone followers of Bob Vander Plaats? He either can't or won't understand the constitution, or the rules of government, let alone civil rights.
How is this different from blacks or women having equal rights? Please, enough is enough. Focus on the real problems we have in this state!
