Why are ‘patriots’ unhappy with honor?

I can't think of another time since at least 1950 that an American has received an award regarded by the world as an honor and people here criticize that person and the Nobel committee. I think when someone here in the USA inspires peace in the world, it is a good thing. Often, thoughts and actions of cooperation are in fact accomplishments. Bullying the world may have come to an end, that is an accomplishment. Listening to our allies and, yes, even our enemies are logical accomplishments.
For years we have been hearing “you are with us or against us” being tied to patriotism. Now our president receives the Nobel Peace Prize and our right wing self-declared “patriots” are unhappy. What could be wrong with this? Promoting peace and growing/renewing friendships with the world seem a good effort.
Congratulations, President Obama, and keep up the effort despite those who fear your success.
