Why are guns so special?

Where did it all go so wrong? If you are a law-abiding legal aged gun lover, why would you object to more gun control? What is there for you to fear? You still will own your semi or capable, fully automatic A-15 rifle. You still can protect your family as per the Second Amendment.
How do so few people hold such vast control over the U.S.? Why are guns so special? Where did it go so wrong?
We are truly in deep trouble.
