When will we connect the dots on guns?
Jun. 5, 2023 6:00 am
Recently, Michigan passed a "Red Flag" law that enables law enforcement to act when warned of someone who may use a gun dangerously. The Michigan Legislature has also passed a safe storage law and a background check law. These may be incremental in passing gun control laws but at least there is progress. When will the people of this country absolutely demand that Legislatures represent their will and ban military weapons being sold in public places?
A Texas Democrat recently stated that 90 percent of guns in Mexico come from the U.S. while commenting that Democrats there cannot get any gun control laws passed. Even the Uvalde massacre parents could not move the GOP hearts of stone.
When will we connect the dots? Gun makers produce these hideous weapons which are on sale in the U.S. and are also exported. Could it be that gun production has anything to do with thousands of Central Americans fleeing their countries? Ironically they want to enter a country that is producing yet more weapons, which are not necessarily used by gangs but may also be used by disgruntled individuals.
At what point do we control the flow, and look at the big picture? If we choose, we can elect representatives in 2024 who care more about the people than about guns.
