When did it become wrong to love America?

When did it become wrong to love America? When did it become wrong to speak well of it? When did it become right to speak only of its faults? There was a time when loving this nation was normal. Not because its sins were hidden or denied (we actually learned about them in public schools).
Rather, America was judged in comparison with other nations. Simple comparisons like, why are people killed trying to escape that country while others are risking their lives to enter ours? Or, why do we have protected rights in our Constitution to speak our minds while people under communism are imprisoned or killed for doing so?
And what nation has provided more freedom, more prosperity for more people than America? Which one? Which one?
Last question: Why isn't their border being crashed?
