What’s wrong with ‘woke,’ Mr. Farmer?

I would like to ask the farmer with the sign on I-380 saying "GO WOKE GO BROKE" just what about being informed and open-minded causes one to go broke.
I am assuming he is referring to these people causing the government to go broke. There is all kinds of waste in the U.S. budget, but I don't think farmers ever have to worry about being taken care of by the American taxpayer, woke or not.
