What's to see, do in Cedar Rapids?

After a recent visit to the great state of Texas, I was asked “If I came to Cedar Rapids, what's there to see and do?” I actually had to pause for a minute and try to think of something. I'm thinking, once you see the “Tree of Five Seasons,” that two-second thrill is gone, now what? A seasonal Kernels game is nice but they have pretty much out priced themselves for “affordable” family fun. Now what? Czech Village used to be real nice but the flood kind of ruined that, although they are trying to get it back. Now what?
Here's what you'll see a lot of: service garages because the streets are so bad your vehicle will be damaged and need repair; the courthouse because you might get a ticket from red light cameras; if you unfortunately get arrested for anything it will cost you an arm and a leg to get your vehicle back due to civil fees, police impound fees, etc.
But if you wait a few years, you'll see a new convention center that will probably be built by non-union workers and you might even see lines of people at the unemployment office trying to find work because they can't use their trade due to non-union labor.
Welcome folks. Enjoy your stay!
