What will evolve global warming thinking?

Sit and watch a coal-fired power plant in operation for a while or observe a coal train supplying the monsters or note the traffic on one interstate. Now conclude that mankind is not contributing to global warming. Can't do it, can you?
Pondering the root cause of human greed and its effects is complex but simple if viewed from an evolutionary standpoint: Denying the humanity and needs of others is very adaptive - arguably the most adaptive hard-wired result of evolution.
The question becomes: Is there a “group” aspect of human evolution that will allow for a mass change in mind set about global issues such as planet warming? Watching the divisive nature of American politics makes it look unlikely.
