Westsiders, speak up at election time
Mary A. Craig

Once again the people living on the west side of town are being treated as 'stepchildren.” Money that was earmarked to fix 33rd Avenue SW has been hijacked instead for the 'downtown crowd.” To rub even more salt into the wound, the money isn't going for repair of roads, but rather a skywalk so individuals who work downtown won't have to face the perils of the weather. God forbid they have to walk unprotected for a block or two.
I've lived here in Cedar Rapids my entire life and know how westsiders are looked down upon and any real projects for our side of town are bumped to the bottom of the pile. When it comes to downtown, they get whatever they want. I guess it will continue.
Come election time, I sure hope you don't expect any support from the individuals living on the west side of town.
