I'm proud to endorse not only a good friend, but a very compassionate and hardworking candidate to the Cedar Rapids City Council in Susie Weinacht. Her can-do attitude exemplifies what we all look for in a great leader. Her ability and willingness to listen and bring together all groups and organizations for the betterment of this community is amazing.
After the 2008 flood, one of the most devastating disasters in Cedar Rapids history, Weinacht put together teams of volunteers, working tirelessly, to assist with the massive cleanups in an effort to help her fellow residents take their lives back as soon as possible.
She fights for our kids as the executive director of the Iowa PTA and a member of the Cedar Rapids Park and Recreation Commission. She also serves on United Way Education committees and Community Corrections Improvement Association, among various other community groups. She also has served on the city's Board of Ethics.
She will cultivate collaboration and find common ground that shares the betterment and vision of the residents of Cedar Rapids. She will be dedicated to bringing in good-paying jobs, working on neighborhood revitalization, community (economic) development and regaining a first-class infrastructure.
I ask you to vote for Weinacht for at-large City Council on Nov. 5.
