To the editor:
In looking for the best candidate for City Council, one should look no further than Susie Weinacht. Her attitude exemplifies what it means to be a great leader and advocate for others. Her willingness and ability to listen and bring people together for the betterment of our community is inspiring.
I first met Weinacht when I served as the executive director of the Civil Rights Commission. She volunteered to work on issues related to fair housing in the city. Later, when I took my current role as the president/CEO of Horizons, A Family Service Alliance, I knew that I wanted to bring her to the table. She has a way of getting results and that's exactly what she did for Horizons.
As a board member at Horizons, she worked diligently on our merger with NTS to expand transportation services for the undeserved in our community. She also uses her skills in effective policy-making and work on initiatives and policies for elderly housing, food security and mental health at state-level.
Her public service goes well beyond her role as a City Council member and her advocacy work has helped Cedar Rapidians from all walks of life.
