Weinacht is a compassionate leader

I believe that Susie Weinacht would make an excellent addition to the Cedar Rapids City Council in one of the at-large positions. I met Weinacht about a year before the flood of 2008, and while her compassion was evident then, it was even more so the June and July when she was working on the “Muck and Gut” effort assisting residents who had been horribly affected by this tragic disaster. Thanks in large part to her efforts, more than 100 families received assistance to help them recover. She has proved to be one of the most compassionate individuals I have ever met.
Even so, I was still surprised when I became aware of all of the other things she has been involved in during her years here in Cedar Rapids: PTA, job opportunity efforts, community outreach activities to improve neighborhoods and now she is a supporter of the city's Blue Zone efforts to attain a more healthful citizenry.
I believe that if we had more elected officials at every level of government who demonstrated the compassion, involvement and leadership that this young lady does, we would all be much better off.
