I am pleased that Susie Weinacht has announced her candidacy for an at-large City Council position for the City of Cedar Rapids. I believe she has the skills, knowledge, and heart that will make a good council member. I know she will address quality of life issues, work to increase jobs, help create safe and secure neighborhoods, and join the council on many economic develop projects that will strengthen our community overall. She will work to continue the streetscaping that ties the NewBo district to downtown.
Improved streets, along with westside development in Kingston Village, at Westdale, and along Ellis Boulevard are already in the dreams of our citizens and Susie will work to support those projects. Her experience on the parks and recreation commission will help guide the development of the new recreation center and development in the Time Check area.
Susie has experience working with the public sector, the private sector, and the labor community that gives the depth of perspective that a good council member needs. Susie is strong enough to make tough decisions. Susie excels at creative thinking and innovative approaches to opportunities and challenges. I urge you to consider her leadership and vote for her on Nov. 5.
