Wearing denim not enough to support sexual assault victims

After reading the guest column from Republican Sec. of State Paul Pate in The Gazette about “supporting sexual assault victims,” I wasn’t sure whether to laugh or cry. Does Pate and frankly the entire Republican Party in Iowa really think wearing denim for one day of the year will make a difference to these young women who have been raped or a victim of incest? Beyond ignorant! What will help is reinstating the Plan B pill program which Attorney General Brenna Bird is lying about when she says it’s “under audit!”
I really hope Iowans wake up and educate themselves on what the Republicans, under the threat from the far right, white Christian nationalists at the Heritage Foundation and their Project 2025, have planned for this country. Here’s a hint, it wants to take women back 50 years and keep them barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen. But no worries about those rape victims, your friends in the Republican Party will protect you with their Levi’s!
