Weak gun laws are reminiscent of the ‘Old West’
Jan. 8, 2023 7:00 am
Another gun headline in the news. “Half of the U.S. goes permit less on guns — Fear of violence grows.” Gun sales skyrocket and manufacturers love it, of course. It’s hard to understand the mentality of buyers since most Americans already own maybe one, two, or more guns.
We have slowly digressed to the lawlessness of the “Old West.” Shoot ‘em up at the old corral and keep the morticians busy. Thank goodness, history tells us this period ended up on “Boot Hill” as new gun laws were enacted.
That work has now been reversed and progress is once more stymied. It appears we’ll have to put up with the absence of gun sanity until the Old West is once again put to rest.
