We support Hart’s effort to count all votes

We live and vote in Iowa's 2nd Congressional District. We aren't lawyers, and we aren't politicians anymore. We've tried to follow the convoluted path of the recount since the November election. And like many of our friends and family, we'd be hard pressed to explain the finer points of the process.
But here's what we do know. We know Rita Hart. We know that all of her life of public service, as a teacher, a community leader, state senator and as a candidate for higher office, has always been about the Iowans she was seeking to serve. It has never been about her, and it isn't now. There are votes that have not been counted. They are primarily from overseas, and include Iowans serving in the military. There are over votes and under votes that haven't been examined. Those voters deserve to be heard. That is why this process is continuing. Rita Hart has never quit on the people she represents. She is fighting to make sure every single Iowan who voted in this election, no matter where they voted from, has their voice heard. Rita Hart's public and private life is based on making sure that every voice is heard. That's what she's doing now until the job is done, and she has our absolute support and gratitude.
