We should consider armed personnel in schools
The Gazette Opinion Staff

Before one rejects out of hand the proposed idea (of arming people in schools) as costing too much, consider the following.
We provide most schools with lunches because of concern for student's nutritional health. We provide psychologists for the mental health well-being of students. We provide counselors to provide help in choosing students' future careers. We provide in some schools unarmed security personnel for safety.
Why not provide armed personnel to protect our student's lives? Possibly an administrator, teacher, counselor, psychologist, security person, or a facility's staff member could assume this responsibility.
