We need streets repaired, not complaints
The Gazette Opinion Staff
May. 28, 2010 12:07 am
Cedar Rapids' streets have been in less-than-ideal shape for a while and, of course, everyone complained. Now that construction is being undertaken on some of the worst streets, everyone is, once again, complaining: About the traffic, the road blocks and one-lane traffic, all their precious time lost waiting.
These people need to understand that part of living in a city is dealing with construction, and that it will ultimately benefit the thousands of drivers using these damaged streets. Is it irritating that what was a five-second stretch of road now requires a five-minute detour to pass? Yes.
But what's worse is blowing a tire trying to navigate that minefield of potholes.
