We need health care now more than ever

I am a physician in Ames, and I became a doctor because I wanted to help people. That's why it's so frustrating to see Sen. Joni Ernst voting to allow insurance companies to discriminate against patients with preexisting conditions.
We are in the midst of a public health crisis, and those living with preexisting conditions - one-third of all Iowans - are most vulnerable. But Ernst has repeatedly voted to take away their health care. What's more, she's remained silent on the ongoing lawsuit poised to strip away their health care, leaving millions of Iowans in limbo.
Ernst should be trying to help the patients of Iowa, and especially during this coronavirus crisis. Joni Ernst must stop voting to take away my patient's health care.
