We must work together to move nation forward

It is time to voice an independent voter reaction to President Barack Obama's speech (July 10) at Kirkwood Community College. It was a speech of substance, honesty and determination to help finish the job that Obama started in 2008. It reached the majority of Iowans who are facing hard times. It takes more than four years to reverse the direction America was heading. That is why I believe in longer presidential terms.
It is perfectly clear whose message will resound to the majority of Americans. Obama is someone a voter can relate to and truly see the direction America is taking. It is a path that must continue to be successful in order to see more substantial job growth. It takes time and patience to reverse an economy.
Most important, it takes people working together to move forward more quickly and successfully. I haven't seen compromise in government, only fighting.
America needs to work together to help this country move forward. We are first all Americans.
