Wage caps a step toward income equality

I was rather dismayed by the letter “Income equality goals won't work here” (Jan. 19 by John Schulte).

The middle class has been waiting patiently since 1984 for money to trickle down, but I'm quite certain no one, including the president, is suggesting that everyone pool their paychecks and divvy it up. Communism is the last thing that comes to my mind when I think of income equality goals. For me, it conjures up thoughts of wage caps on chief executive officers and executive pay so their paychecks are more in balance with the average workers' compensation. Say a 1:10 ratio, or maybe 1:12, as a group in Switzerland recently suggested. More money would end up in the pockets of the middle class, who I know are eager to stimulate the economy, if only given the chance.
