Voting for LOST will ensure C.R.’s future

As a former west-side business owner, current west-side property owner and co-founder of the Cedar Rapids Small Business Recovery Group after the flood of 2008, I feel that I am in a unique position to understand the need for a “yes” vote on March 6 to extend the local-option sales tax to pay for flood protection for both sides of the river.
When I look at the time, energy and money that went into, and continues to go into, trying to recover from that disaster I can only ponder the consequences of having to try to repeat another recovery in the future. I am not convinced that our city could ever recover from a second disaster of the magnitude of the 2008 floods.
On March 6, please vote “yes” for extending the local-option sales tax to help ensure that Cedar Rapids can realize the vision we are all working so hard to achieve.
