Voters must make education a priority

Like most parents and grandparents the education that our children receive is of the utmost concern for me. Education is the key to our society continuing to survive and thrive in a world where competition is keener than ever.
Yet we have watched as our Republican leaders in the Legislature pare back the education budget year after year. We have often seen these funds go to tax breaks for those who do not need them, or handouts to multinational corporations. We are concerned with what is happening with our educational system.
It is time for Iowa to get back to its roots. Superior public education and a highly educated workforce once made Iowa's education the model other states used. We can once again establish high standards in education if the right people are making policy.
I will be voting for Jodi Clemens. Affordable education is one of Clemens main policy focuses and she will help return Iowa to the education standards we once were proud of.
